Local-Rules

Waikato breeds champions. We’ve got the Super Rugby trophy, we’re the current netball champs, and if you check the trophy cabinet you’ll notice the Ranfurly Shield in there too. Yes, there’s clearly something in the water in the Waikato.

Not only are we champions but we’re a relaxed bunch too - even when the All Black coach gets on the blower to get us to play in the World Cup final, we ignore it. Eleven kilos of whitebait isn’t going to pull itself out of the Waikato River.

We even have our own beer. It doesn’t have a fancy name. It’s called Waikato Draught.

We play by our own rules, our local rules. Rules that have been passed down for generations. They’re not hard to follow, and most of us didn’t even know they were rules - we just did them.

These rules just feel right. So keep an eye out for Local Rules billboards appearing around the Waikato region, or check them out on Facebook.
